New Year's Resolutions (School Edition)

I'm not very fond of New Year's resolutions each January. I'm not compelled to change the way I do things just because the date on the calendar is different. I may "talk the talk", but to be honest, I NEVER follow through  any of them. The only changes I DO follow through with, are fixing the mistakes I make in writing the wrong year all month long.

My TRUE resolutions come the last week of every August....BACK TO SCHOOL!

After almost three months of fun in the sun, late nights, and a care free attitude, I'm ready to buckle down and get back into a groove. I CRAVE the routine. My kids do too (although they may beg to differ).

Now is the time I reflect. What worked well last year? What will I NEVER do again?  How can I make our routine run smoother?  What can I do to make our lives feel less frazzled? What can I do to make ME feel less frazzled?

Then there are home improvements and craft projects to tackle. I eagerly anticipate the few alone hours I will have in order to complete them.  I, of course, have a list a 3 miles long. If I get to half of them by June, I will be thrilled!

But, right now, I am sitting in a quiet house... windows open ... a touch of autumn in the air... listening to the crickets...a much deserved glass of wine...not really thinking about the upcoming year.

I'm just enjoying the moment and catching my breath before a new, busy, school year begins.
